Is White Tea the New Miracle in Health and Beauty?

You may have already heard of or even tried White tea however this would put you into the minority of tea consumers. White tea has been consumed for centuries however is still very unknown in the mainstream. White tea like all teas has health benefits however few people realise the true extent of these amazing health and beauty benefits. Let's just examine some of the long list of white tea health benefits and see why here at The Tea Hut we include White Tea as a big part of our tea range.

Derived from the Camellia sinensis plant, which is native to India and China, white tea is the least processed of all teas and contains unique antioxidants called flavonoids. The strongest of these which is ECGC has been thought to fight against free radicals which can cause diseases such as cancer, stroke and even heart disease. With today's fat filled diets and lack of exercise another important component of white tea are catechins, they are abundant in white tea and may in fact help to fight high cholesterol levels, which is a growing problem in Australia, we all probably know at least one person that has high cholesterol.

White tea has also been reported to be great for weight loss and increasing calorie burning so if you want to lose those few extra kilos white tea is a must.

Another big benefit of white tea is the effect it has on improving the overall appearance of your skin. Many skin care companies are now seeing the benefits of adding white tea to their products. White tea may be even better than green tea for skin health with it's protection from UV damage and anti-inflammatory effects.

If these reasons aren't enough to get you drinking white tea then we are not sure what will be, if you haven't already tried white tea there is no time like today, it has a light yet full bodied, refreshing flavour that is both satisfying and as you can see good for you. White tea is also very low in caffeine so that you can enjoy at anytime of the day!

The best way to drink white tea to get the most benefits out of it is to use about 1 tsp per cup and ensure that your water is below boiling at about 85°C. Brew for 2-5 minutes or for as long as you prefer. To ensure optimal health benefits serve without any milk or sugar.
